I liked the ergo. It gave a good seat and great positioning for the baby and my toddler also. The only fault is that the back is not very high so as I had larger children it did not get as much use as some of the other buckle carriers offer.
I found the back carry was easy once you got the hang of placing baby onto your back there are lots of sling libraries you can visit who can help if you struggle and lots of videos on the internet you can watch. hipscoot, superman or santas toss. Baby loved to be on the back he could see everything at eye level.
There was comfort on the shoulders on long walks. I did find doing a front carry harder to do as my son got bigger as an effort to do the chest strap up. Also the carrier does sit lower on the back I prefer a higher carry but this is personal preference.
The carrier is not too expensive you also have the option to buy a bag to put your belongings into that attaches. The sleephood is great for when they nod off which is fairly often and helps support their head.
All in all if you are looking for buckles this is of great quality and design than some of the heavily advertised brands.

With baby carriers I think you seek three things: comfort for the carrier; comfort and security for the baby; and versatility. Having just purchased an Ergo, I would say the designers have sacrificed the first in pursuit of the last.
What do I mean? Well, you're meant to be able to wear your baby 3 different ways: front, back, and hip. But in order to let you do that they've had to design the carrier to be 'flexible', and that means some bits are flimsy. I'm thinking particularly of the chest strap, which sits very high on the back or chest (or neck!), cuts into you and pulls the shoulder straps out of shape if you have it done up tight. If you try to do without it, the shoulder straps fall off, because of the way they fasten to the carrier (basically, just as loops). So the chest strap is essential to hold the whole thing together and it's way too flimsy for its role. I found I got sore shoulders after wearing the Ergo for just a few minutes (especially as my baby wanted to lean back and twist round all the time).
There are also some very basic design flaws: the straps don't have enough length in them to allow for adjustment -- particularly on the hip, I found it a struggle to get the buckle of the 2nd strap done up, and I'm an average size woman (12 UK/8 US) trying to carry a 6-month-old (they say the carrier goes up to 5 years!). And the adjustment buckle for the shoulder straps is at the top of the shoulder, not the waist -- fine if you're wearing your baby on your back (with the adjustment buckle in front), but if you've got the baby on the front it's simply impossible to adjust the strap length yourself.
I bought two carriers online at the same time: the day before the Ergo arrived, the Macpac Possum backpack (NZ brand) arrived. Although the Macpac doesn't have the Ergo's versatility (it's a carrier for serious hiking), in terms of comfort for me -- and I suspect for my baby -- there's just no competition. I doubt I'll wear the Ergo much.

This is an incredibly comfortable baby carrier as it distributes baby's weight evenly over both your shoulders.
It is also quite padded.
Looks stylish and sporty. Could be worn by either man or woman.

The most comfortable carrier I have tried, it effectively distributes baby's weight through your hips, so your back doesn't ache. And it has a handy pocket big enough for a nappy & wipes! With help from youtube, back and hip carries are easily mastered. It gets way more use than the pushchair. I love it!

I purchased this carrier because you can use it as both a front and back carrier. It's very comfortable, attractive to look at and very versatile. I used it for my 4 week old daughter and for my 2 year old son! However, it is expensive and I personally found it difficult to put on. In fact, I have never managed to put my daughter on my back without assistance from another adult.
