I think this is a fantastic car seat, as baby can lie flat which is much better for them than being sat up all the time. It is a bit heavier than other car seats, but well worth the slight extra weight to carry for the reassurance of knowing your baby is safe.

Fantastice car seat for long journeys as baby can lie flat and on a 8 hour over night trip our little one slept the whole way without waking...result. However as an everyday car seat its too big, if baby is lying down its impossible to get in and out of the car - especially if you can't find a parent/child space in a car park, difficult to carry because of the shape and its heavy. We ended up borrowing a second car seat and keeping the Jane Matrix Pro attached to the pram base (apart from the long journeys).
Also to install the seat, adjusting the straps was difficult when in the lie flat position and although it is possible to have this car seat along side a booster seat it was tricky and we ended up having to strap the seatbelt across our other child's booster seat, then fix the Matrix Pro and then ask our daughter to climb in and out of her booster seat without undoing the seatbelt - she became quite good at it!
However, I say again, for a long journey when you have set up time, it really is brilliant.

I bought this car seat as part of a Slalom travel system. Love the way it just clicks on and off the pushchair, with no clumsy brackets. Little one looks so comfortable sitting in it and the practicality of it also lying flat, means i don't have to get an additional carrycot for long journeys. So practical and easy to use.

The Matrix Pro starts off as a lie-flat car seat, I loved the concept. BUT the seat is rather small and my baby rapidly grew too long for it. It is fiddly to install and parts of the securing mechanism actually broke. When converted to a reward facing seat, the strap adjustment is impossible to access when the seat is in the car. This is quite unacceptable. It is very very heavy and the adverts showing a one-handed removal from the pushchair are accurate, but the mechanism is fiddly and you have to be pretty strong to position the seat 'just so' to grab the locking mechanism. Now I read in the magazine "Which?" that this seat actually has a safety issue with it and is a DON'T BUY under their classification.
