Set in a beautiful location, the campsite is a real family find and provides a great base to explore the surrounding fells.
The toilet and shower facilities are really clean and first class in all regards and simply cannot be faulted - almost cleaner than your own bathroom!
The Wasdale Head Inn is ten minutes walk away and serves decent food and (according to my husband) really good beer.
The Lake inself is about five minutes walk away, and there are plenty of walks, most head up into the highest mountains in the Lakes, but there are a few on the flat.
A thoroughly enjoyable break.

Amazing location with stunning views. This is largely a site for walkers (i's really close to Scarfell pike) but we took our two young children had a fabulous time. There's plenty of easy walks close by and you're not too far from some lovely beaches and countryside. There are a couple of pubs which serve great food. You can't pre-book (I think this is the case with all National Trust sites) but we were lucky and got a great pitch. They never overcrowd the site so you don't feel too ontop of each other (good for us as our kids are early risers!) The site felt very well run and the owners were helpful, friendly and really well organised. The facilities are plentiful and really clean (20p for hot showers). There is a laundry room which was a godsend after a muddy day after rainfall and a well stocked shop. The site isn't for those who want entertainment and lots to do but (nb. also there's no mobile phone signal) if you want to chill out surrounded by amazing natural beauty and give your kids time the opportunity to get into nature, then this is an ideal spot.

Probably the most stunningly located campsite in the UK, surrounded by mountains on three sides and the brooding Wastwater on the other. Lots of walking from the tent; a lovely pub and outdoor shop on the doorstep and the finest air (and rain!) that Lakeland has to offer.....just lovely. Facilities are nice and clean, staff very friendly and helpful.

Good site that attracts families - rather than teenagers (who want to plug in electronically). Safe, plenty to do in the hils around, clean facilities
Value for money; glorious with the warmer weather: but that fills the site : (

This is one of our favourite UK campsites. We had a perfect few days here. No cars on the site, so very safe and quiet for children to run around. Lots of trees to climb, streams to paddle in and dam. Close to mountains and lake. Ideal.
It has no facilities apart from showers etc, so if you like lots of entertainment and club houses or like driving your car to and from the washing up block then this is the wrong place for you.
