From the reviews I had read about Nunnington Farm it sounded lovely with the beautiful beach and lovely family atmosphere, I would have to say though that my experience was far from that. The owners were polite when we first arrived and then on the second night my family witnessed the owner berating the family camping next to us for alleged bad behaviour that it later transpired to have been someone else. They told us that no apology was given. I would not recommend taking your children there.

This camp site is extraordinarily clean and tidy but it is not child friendly and if you are looking for a relaxed break with kids you will be constantly worrying about breaking one of the many strictly enforced rules.

Hi there,
Just thought that I would warn other mums that Nunnington Farm sometimes turns people away for no apparent reason. We read reviews and the site sounded OK, so we went down last weekend. I called the day before to check that 2 families could camp together (they said 3 families maximum together). However, when we arrived, as we were mothers and children (i.e. no dads), the manager would not let us in. Their definition of a family is mum, dad and children. Not sure if we just arrived at the wrong time, but the couple were very rude and unpleasant. We were really shocked. (It is not as if we have six children each and they were causing havoc. We only have 2 children each and they were sitting in the car waiting for us to check in). I have since read a review about 3 couples who tried to camp there and were rudely sent away. The children were very upset, but we just managed to get into Wicks Farm further up the road. I have been camping for a number of years and this has never happened to me before. I would advise anybody to pre book at Wicks or Stubcroft Farm before going to Wittering to avoid disappointment. It's not worth the risk of turning up at Nunnington and not getting in. (you can't pre-book).

We went here (just me & DH) in July 2007 and it was fab. Great facilities (lovely toilets/showers) and a very clean and tidy site. Brilliant for families and couples as the site was quiet (we were outside the school hols) and we had a great time in Portsmouth both days.
Ice blocks were available to rent and bricks supplied to stand your BBQ on. Elec on lots of pitches but not in the 'tent field' - the 'tent field' was closed when we were there so we were on the main bit of the site. Petting zoo (which we didn't go to but seemed popular with other kids on site). Park at end of drive and also a little shop there too for ice-creams, washing up liquid etc.
We'll certainly be going back, lots to do in the surrounding area (although less so in actual Wittering) and would recommend the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth (cheap long stay parking next door to the dockyard too).

This is great for families, in fact, we didn't see anybody without kids. It's a small campsite with great facilities. The showers are free and clean and very warm and there are baths for smaller children. Toilets are plentiful and clean and well lit for the night. There's a small farm on site with animals for the kids to pet and there's also a play area. There isn't a shop, but there's a well stocked shop 2 mins away and a fantastic butchers. There's a pub with decent food and a lovely garden (with playground) 5 mins walk away. And, best of all, the beautiful West Wittering Beach is a 15 mins walk away. I want to go back!!!
