Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

This is perfect for little girls (and boys even) that love horses. It is so easy to pick up, that even I managed it.

Seriously, it's ideal for youngsters. It allows you to practice caring for your pet horse, by cleaning the stable and grooming, and then you get to go out on adventurous rides. Talking on screen is mainly done by on-screen text, but this practices reading, and is not too difficult. My six year old niece loves the game and that is probably the age it is aimed at.

Brilliant game for DS Lite, aimed at 6-10 yr olds. Graphics are stunning, you get to choose and look after your horse(s), ride and train your horse. Many many hours of play in this. My horse mad 6 yr old had this for Christmas and it is her favourite game. Lots of learning and skills developed without being too obvious to the child!
