Tip of the day

Don't get in a panic over Christmas. Keep a box and put a little in it every week - small gifts, wine, nibbles, napkins etc. This way, you'll be more relaxed and less skint in December! keriku

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

I bought the Wii Fit really just for this game which makes use of the balance board that you get with the Wii Fit. Although you can play it without the board I don't think it would be as much fun. I'm a keen skiier and this is actually quite realistic. Lean one way as you would when you're skiing and you move in that direction. Use the controls like poleing and you speed up.

THere's lots of different pistes to choose from, all different grades and some have moguls. There's also a race option where you can race aaginst a computer person. Its loads of fun.

This game is loads of fun for the whole family, we don't have a balance board. All ages will enjoy this game.

We played this game without the Wii fit balance board and it's still a lot of fun. Going to the top of the mountain and ski-ing down loads of massive slopes and jumps is good fun for the whole family. I'd recommend this game to anybody who loves ski-ing because the name says it all. It's quite tricky to get the hang of (for adults) but there are easy green slopes as well as the more difficult reds.

I love Family Ski - it's probably best if you have a Wii fit board because then you turn by changing your balance. It's quite addictive because each time you do a run you get a grading and so until you get S+ for everything it can be difficult to switch off. DDs do like it but I suspect I am keener...
