Quote of the week

David Cameron on whether The Thick of It accurately represents the Conservative publicity machine: "I love The Thick of It. V funny... but only true about the other lot (not)."

Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

Just returned from a week at Club Vounaki. Childcare was excellent, my 8mo old was very well looked after. The baby creche operates a 1-3 ratio, with children being assigned their own nanny for the week, so there is continuity and my son clearly recognised his nanny and developed a bond with her. We could pick up and drop him off whenever we liked, and also pop in and play with him in the air conditioned creche area. Night creche was useful for dining in the hotel buffet restaurant, but more of a baby minding service than a continuation of the daytime care.

Children's food was ok, but maybe not brilliant for babies. Although there was a healthier option each day as well as junk food, I'm not sure whether food was cooked without salt so may not be suitable for very little ones. Having said that, there was always fresh fruit available, as well as fruit puree, and we found something for our boy to eat each day. There were also facilities for reheating your own food.

Adult food was good, particularly the salad buffet.

The club itself has a lovely setting, with great views of sunsets over the bay and lovely well maintained grounds. It's on a hill and there are steps, so a baby carrier is useful, although there are pushchair friendly routes as well. There are two pools, one adult only for relaxing while kids are in creche and one where kids are allowed for family time. Inclusive watersports are great if you are into sailing, which we are. Scuba diving, tennis tuition, mountain biking and a gym are also available.

We booked for the childcare, and would definitely return, it's a shame this now seems to be the Sunsail's only club, as I would book with them again. Finally, we got a special rate for the week (£300 off brochure price), so found it good value - not sure I would say the same if we had payed full price.

Fantastic resort. Superb children's clubs. Food was great and the weather was brill. What more can you ask for? Staff couldn't do enough for us. Room immaculately clean and pools lovely and quiet. I'm not even 'into sailing' and I loved it!

Beach was probably a bit smaller than we expected.

Emphasis was very much on boating etc and if you are not into all that (we weren't) you can feel a bit left out. The nursery area/facilities were good, the staff were friendly and helpful. Some were happy to leave their children all day from 9.30 to 5pm but have to say most days we didn't do that (he was in "minnows" as only 15 months old). Have to say food let them down a little - not too healthy and a little repetitive, might be good for over 5's but for little ones was not always ideal eg burgers and chips. Shop on site was small and pretty expensive - in fact drinks etc pretty expensive.

PS if you use a hipseat for your little one, take it! can be really handy especially if you are in the block furthest from restaurant.

Visitors were delighted by the "friendly atmosphere and staff that aim to please". The English speaking nannies provided "childcare you could trust" and sailors liked being able to take a boat out all day. There was praise for the wide range of excellent children's facilities. It's also "an excellent place to introduce older kids to water sports". Food was "OK" but the baby listening was great and meant the evenings were relaxed, "though you do have to talk to strangers sometimes!" The beach was "disappointing", but ultimately "the children have great fun and parents get a real break".

Mumsnet top tip: "The site is on a hill so not ideal for heavily pregnant/disabled, or those with a buggy".
