David Cameron on whether The Thick of It accurately represents the Conservative publicity machine: "I love The Thick of It. V funny... but only true about the other lot (not)."

Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

Arriving by Mercedes into the cool calming interior of this hotel and then being informed that we had been upgraded to a private villa, with pool garden and butler's quarters, was a rare treat! (We had booked adjoining suites iirc.)

We walked down to our villa through winding paths brushing past fragrant bourganvillia and frangipani flowers on our way - it was quite a long way, with many turns and steps!

The chidrens 'Ark' creche/club was run by a fabulous and experience British nanny who had her own young son, no unusual child requests were too much trouble. My DS' favourite nanny even changed her day off to babysit for the children on her day off.

The DCs were given mini slippers in their rooms with ladybirds on which was a lovely touch.

The food was great with choices from the buffet or menu every night, or for my fussy children, things that were not on the menu!

The only downside was our villa had the only pool that could not be fenced off, but the pool man soon brought us a supply of heavy wooden loungers and together we made a sturdy fence to keep DS from drowning or falling down the steep step to the lower garden (and butlers quarters :-)
