Went on this when DS1 was almost two.
The holiday was "A Taste of Austria" package from Inghams: we got a fantastic deal as we booked through lastminute.com - 10 days half-board for dh and I for only £699, including everything apart from excursions! Flight from our local airport to Salzburg then an hour coach transfer. Service from the reps was excellent.
The guest-house we stayed in was right on the town square but our room was at the back so not noisy. Food was excellent imho, with a 3 course dinner every night and cold buffet breakfast. We were put in their best room with a four poster and travel cot for ds; it had a huge bathroom and TV with some English channels, also a table and seating so we bought food and ate lunch in the room a couple of times. The only downside was that Austrian law means no kettles in the room so cups of tea were expensive as had to be bought from the bar.
The best bit was there was a balcony on our floor where we could sit and watch summer concerts going on in the square below, one night we had an Elvis Presley impersonator, another night a Bavarian band! Free entertainment for us while ds slept in our room! One night they roped off an entire street and filled it with bouncy castles and ride-ons (which ds loved) and had a band playing.
Resort was fantastic for children - playgrounds everywhere - loads of restaurants had play areas too; summer toboggan; cable cars up nearby mountain with cafe and playground at summit and buggy-friendly path down; amazing pool and sauna complex included in cost (sauna complex adults only and they go around naked so be warned - quite a liberating experience!), not to mention the fantastic scenery everywhere.
Great excursions from Inghams although we were limited to those nearby (ie short coach trips) due to ds. We did one every other day (Salzburg, Krimml waterfall, Lake Achensee) - but there was a train station in the resort enabling us to take trips to Zell am See and Kitzbuhel.
The only downside was being in one room - so nowhere to go when ds1 was asleep other than the balcony or hotel bar, and lack of space to chill out in the day; and also the effort of keeping ds entertained on the coach. But the rest of the experience more than made up for this.
Can't wait to go again when ds2 is old enough!
