This book should be compulsory reading. As a mother of 3 teenagers, a teacher of children with ebd and a play therapist and with number 4 due in 2 weeks, it is the clearest book I have read on the importance of a child's emotional wellbeing and the effect that has on the development of the brain. I couldnt put this book down, even though there were elements of it that made me question both my previous parenting and teaching. This book says it how it is!

Amazing book. How brain connections are formed in the first three years of life, how to and the importance of forming healthy attachments with the baby and what unhealthy ones ( attachments ) look like. Literally why love is so important for a baby and how love helps the baby to develop to their full potential, especially as the first three years are the most vital for forming emotionally healthy children.
I read it from the middle first and then the beginning as the beginning first felt like it might be hard work. It wasnt though. I love this book and recommend it for all potential and existing parents.
