Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

"A wonderful read, funny as well as informative." "This is not a 'do it this way' type book, more a series of suggestions that might help you negotiate parenting problems like teaching manners, throwing terrific birthday parties, and combining working from home with being a hands-on mummy." "Purves is very laid back and tells you not to fret about endless toilet talk (they WILL grow out of it) nor to spend masses of cash on crappy plastic toys that only last a week." " Just a lot of common sense really, but it's good to hear it from someone else."
