Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

We have the 'New complete baby and toddler meal planner' by Ms Karmel. The recipes are great when you're feeling uninspired.

However I found her lack of information regarding milk/fomula/breast feeds unhelpful especially when this forms a major part of weaning. She jumps around with her timing of milk feeds in the various meal planners without providing any furtherinformation - very confusing and not helpful.

meal planners very confusing with regard milk feeds. She changes the times quite significantly yet doesn't explain why.

nice ideas and love the presentation and I am no domestic goddess. it is practical as a lot of meals can be frozen, but I think the portions are just too big for some kids, or maybe just mine

I didn't find this so useful for weaning (far, far too much fiddling about) but very good for the later stages when you want ideas about different tastes and textures.
