I have a 6 month old who ahs never slept through wakes up all through the night and never slept soundly...i got told to read this book by a family friend who is a health visitor.

Since i have read it and put SOME of this book into practise my son is now sleeping 12 hours at night 7pm -7am ish.

he wakes up naturally i nevr wake him up and i dont stick to the routine strictly

This book has been an absoult god send to me as i am a single mother.

I no have an hour in the moring to do my house work and for myself to get ready as he is asleep

then i have 2 hours in the afternoon to relax and get myself somethig to eat and RELAX.

Then at night hes sleepin soundly by 7pm.

i have my life back at night to get a relaxing bath tea and watch tv without having to rush around eating waiting for my son to stir.

I think that this book can be usefull if you dont follw the routines strictly i never alow my son to cry and to get into a state of upset

I sufferd with post natel depression but since i have managed to get back to my somewhat 8 hr sleep a night for myself i am near eoungh back to my normal way of thnking and my post natel depression has subsided without taking any drugs

I thank gina for this book and think that to mcuh has been made about it

Pick the bits of the book that you thnk would benefit yourself

This book saved my sanity and my breasts. They were exhausted nursing my baby to sleep everytime she woke up in the middle of the night. I had no clue how much sleep she needed. My baby seemed to naturally fit into her routines and I got peace and quite to sit and eat a nice relaxing lunch and I get to cuddle my husband at night instead of nursing my baby on and off who sleeps all night through. Thanks for commonsense Gina Ford.

awful book, awful read. If I want to be a rigid clock-watcher, I'll join the military or develop an Obsessive Cumpulsive Disorder.

People should't feel they HAVE TO follow everything on the book, i think just to read and follow what is good for you and your baby is the best. Every mother + every baby is diffirent.

someone here posted as : she followed everything to make her life easier and the baby is contended but please don't call others selfish, because I think you were selfish too, for just to make your life easier you made him grow like he is in the army already.

My best advise would be before judging Gina Ford to read and just get an overall idea what babies need but do your own routine if needed. I've stopped following the book after 6 months (and I didn't do everything on there) as my baby had a very bad theething problem and didn't eat for 8 months, you can't force a baby like him or with a reflux or any other condition.

Gina Ford is like a Marmite,, you either love her or hate her,,

I loved her,,even though I didn't-couldn't follow everything on the book, it just helped me to understand what baby really needs. Especially for our early days.

Ofcourse, I could not understand which mother can not look at her babies eyes when they want you, but I guess I am paying for it now,,My baby is 2 and I still give him milk during night :)) but I don't mind as I said the book helped me with our first 6 months, within 2 weeks I knew when he will wake up and wants his milk,, that was something good to know :)
