A useful book, well laid out & easy to find what you are looking for. It got thumbed through a lot in those early 'what am I doing?' days!

This was the best book I bought! I read a heap of books during pregnancy and in the early days of parenthood and was tired of opinionated authors who only tell you "how it should be done". This book is factual and concise and doesn't preach. It just gives basic answers and guidance for everyday concerns.

I found this book rather preachy and not particularly well-translated from the American (certainly the edition I bought in 2006) - it went into great detail about the LATCH system (US Isofix; not available over here - for one example). Stopped looking at it after about 3 months. Plenty of info but wouldn't really recommend it on.

I have bought this as a gift for several new mums. In my opinion it is one of the best general parenting books on the market. It is laid out very simply and has a great index system. If you want one book that covers everything from developmental stages, vaccinations, behavioural issues, overview of childhood illnesses, first aid, diet advice, even recipes etc etc then this is worth every penny
