A very good friend, sent these to us after our son was born, after someone had sent them to her. They were absolutely delicious, a real treat and appreciated by everyone who came near. I'm not sure what was the biggest draw in fact, our son or the muffins and biscuits.

When my youngest granddaughter was born 18 months ago I was devestated to be in hospital at the time and couldn't go and see her, the contrary cuss decided to arrive a week early otherwise I would have cancelled the minor operation just to be able to visit her as quickly as possible. I was also very disappointed that I was unable to go shopping for a congratulations gift for my daughter and son in law. I'm afraid I got a little tearful and the nurse who came to chat with me suggested a company called eden4hampers.co.uk as she knew from when my daughter came to visit me previously that she would always buy herself and my granddaughters' a muffin from the hospital shop - this nurse had actually ticked me off for eating one of the muffins whilst filling in my diabetic menu sheet!
eden4hampers.co.uk is an offshoot of eden4flowers.co.uk and specialise in quality hampers that are sent through the post directly to the recipient. The nurse had used the site on several occasions and offered to order me a hamper online to be sent to my daughter and I would give her the money, this wasn't inappropriate as I have been treated by this lovely lady for many years and have seen her outside of the hospital too so I see her as a friend and hopefully she does too. The following day she arrived with a handful of print outs from eden4hampers and I set about choosing, it didn't take me long as I had already decided I wanted a muffin hamper all I had to do was decide on the size of the hamper.
I eventually chose a basket of 25 muffins which cost £33.99, meaning each muffin was priced at a reasonable £1.36. The nurse tells me that ordering is a simple process so I sat back and waited for a call from my daughter to say they had arrived. I was surprised when the very next day my daughter texted me to thank me for the beautiful basket of muffins which had arrived just 24 hours after the order was placed, she was extremely impressed by them and said it was such a thoughtful gift as everyone else had turned up with the obligatory babygrows and dresses.
I was discharged from hospital the next day and after going home to shower the NHS grime from myself I went to visit my beautiful three day old granddaughter. After coo-ing and ahh-ing over her for a couple of hours, I went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea and saw the stunning basket of muffins which was sitting on the worktop.
I can understand why this gift is getting more and more popular as the basket itself is a beautiful white wicker one, which my daughter now uses as a vegetable basket, with a red and white check linen cloth tied around it to protect the muffins from the bottom and sides of the basket. This was embellished with a large gold bow and came delivered in a rigid box for security.
The muffins are not as large as I thought they would be, I was expecting those huge jumbo muffins if I'm honest and these were a similar size to those you would buy from the supermarket. They are much tastier than supermarket muffins though and tasted fresh and cooked with care, rather than mass produced. The 25 muffins were split between four flavours; toffee, blueberry, chocolate chip and chocolate muffins with chocolate chips. I think this is great because if it was just one flavour then the gift would soon become boring, but having a choice meant there was a muffin to suit everyone.
I tried a blueberry one, and my daughter sent me home with one of the other three flavours so I eventually sampled them all. All the flavours were wonderful, absolutely the best muffins I have eaten outside of the US. They are sweet and oh-so moreish with a fluffy texture that shop bought muffins tend to stodge up a little, the top crust on each was a good texture and slightly more solid that the body of the muffin. My favourite was the toffee in the end as the muffin was vanilla flavoured with tiny little pieces of fudge-like toffee inside which gave it a very interesting bite.
I'm glad I bought my daughter this basket of muffins and would certainly recommend this as a Christmas gift for any new parent this year, even an old parent would appreciate this I think providing they love muffins as much as we do! My daughter said how useful it was to have the muffins in the house as because they generally have a short shelf life it was nice to be able to offer her visitors one, safe in the knowledge that these were not going to be wasted and also knowing she still had several muffins stashed in the kitchen for her and the kids!
Delivery is free on everything from eden4hampers.co.uk and if you order before 4.30pm they will endevour to deliver your hamper the next day, although obviously you will need to get your order in early if you're ordering over the Christmas period so go and have a look now. You could make a stressed out new mums day!
