There are two types of home casting kits that I have used from the Craftmill website. The first is a simple impression or imprint kit, where you press the baby hand or foot into clay (airdry clay is the softest and very easiest type to do and you can re-roll it if it goes wonky) and the other is a 3-D casting kit, to make a 3-D plaster casting of babys hand or foot - a fun process with amazing results. Gorgeous to keep and detailed instructions provided. I did one at 6 months and then again at age 3.

I have bought one of these for quite a few new parents and the instructions are a bit confusing - especially for a sleep deprived new parent. However, I have also given a hand to complete and the results are fantastic. It is hard to remember how tiny their hands and feet are until you look back at the results.

Just the best. And now I give them to everyone! What better way to remember how small they once were.

We received one of these soon after bubba was born, but didnt use it until he was 9 months old. Just got forgotten at the time. It did seem easy to use at this age, and I can't imagine pushing tiny 2 week old feet into the clay - it was quite hard, and needed chubby older toes to make a good impression!

Love the idea however don't think it is that feasible for many parents to do this in the first six months. Mainly because baby isn't heavy enough to make a decent print and also because it is a bit of a faff. Much better as a present later on IMO!
