Quote of the week

David Cameron on whether The Thick of It accurately represents the Conservative publicity machine: "I love The Thick of It. V funny... but only true about the other lot (not)."

Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

I love this book..I was completely fed up cooking something separate for our toddler and this book has been the answer. DH and DS have loved all the recipes I have cooked from this - and I must have done most of them by now. I use it now more than any of my Nigella or Jamie books. Would definitely recommend this book!

Pre baby I survived on Delia but since weaning DD have become somewhat bored with the roundabout that is our daily feeding - healthy for me, healthy and nutritious for her and healthy and filling for him. I read a review of this book and thought it would be the answer to my prayers. And it is. I don't use it everyday but when I now prepare my shopping list (oh yes I have changed) I turn to the book for inspiration. My favourite at the moment is the 'One pot Lemon and Thyme Chicken' (substitue frozen broad beans for frozen soya beans cos sainsbury's don't sell 'em) Fooled a friend recently so must be good.

I could get evangelical about this book but I'll shut up now. I get excited about food again which is a result.
