Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

I picked this up in Robert Dyas whilst getting new water filters and noticed it on the counter for £3.99. As far as cook books go, it is very small and easily fits into a kitchen drawer. The recipes are amazing - they really are quick and easy and very clear to understand. I would consider myself to be an intermediate cook and the recipes in here really are easy yet very very tasty. Favourite so far has got to be parma ham parcels stuffed with pear, walnut and gorgonzola - took less than 5 mins and was a perfect dinner party starter.

I can't recommend this book highly enough!
