Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

This is a lovely book to look at with lots of beautiful photos and very easy to read recipes. There's a lot of information about healthy eating and feeding your baby / toddler and the recipes are all delicious. I've made a few and they have all turned out well, so they are very easy to follow. My children have liked them too. The recipes are quite 'grown-up' so can be eaten by the whole family. What I really like about this book is the fact that it has enjoyable recipes e.g. popcorn and chicken fingers coated in ketchup and crisps. Not as healthy as some recipe books, but great fun to make and my children love them. It's nice to find a book which lets you enjoy food without feeling guilty.
