We bought it as it matched the rest of my son's Ikea Leksvik furniture, no problems with it, but compared to his little brother's non-extendable Kritter we may as well have got that one as we didn't really need it to be extendable. I can imagine that would be useful for a small space though.

Can't remember hubby having any problems with assembly.

Both my children have a Leksvik bed. Ikea have a range of mattresses (including a sprung mattress), and fitted bed sheets to go with them: so you really have to add the cost of these on top of the frame. We could not find an alternative source of mattresses that would fit the bed in its transitional (not fully extended) state.

At its full extent it is just a narrow single bed, so is fine for the vast majority of children under 12 years old. As such, it is pretty robust. I happily sit with my children on their beds to read stories without fear of breaking the slats.

We really like the traditional timeless look of the Leksvik range of furniture and think it won't date. My children's beds look especially adorable with Christmas stockings hung on the bedposts!

Overall, I believe it was good investment.
