Pros:

Much quieter pumping action than the Avent

More importantly, Medela bottles & breastpump kits are 100% free from Bisphenol-A (BPA)the component in many plastic baby bottles that can act as a hormone disrupter and has been linked to gender abnormalities and cancer.

Cons:

The bottles don't come with teats as

Medela have a soft feeder system instead(costs around £17 for a bottle and feeder) This is so it doesn't cause nipple confusion Not sure whether any other teats would fit, but they probably would have BPA in anyway!

I thought this was an excellent pump and even with the suction cranked right up, it didn't cause me any discomfort. The rapid pumping 'Let Down' setting was excellent and very effective. Let down always occured long before this setting was finished.

It was very simple to assemble and clean, light and compact.

Overall, a lot better than my hand pump, more effective and reasonably quiet too.

I have used Avent hand pump and hospital breast pump. I find this pump just as effective as hospital breast pump and very confortable. I manage to express the same amount of milk in half the time compared to the hand pump. It is small and very portable. I have used it while travelling and find it pretty user-friendly in that respect. There are not that many parts and just have to watch out not losing the small valve. Definitely a good buy though it is on the expensive side.

This was a brilliant pump; quiet, quick and versatile, it makes discreet pumping easy. Much more comfortable than the hospital ones but just as effective. You really do get what you pay for -and it's easy to wash-up.
