i found this so much easier and much more comfortable than a hand pump although I do recommend getting the soft shell insert for the nipple attachment. The option to change the suction and speed is fantastic as you can mimic your babies rhythms for effecientcy.

Absolutely brilliant and double pumping one-handed is easy once you get the knack of it - am so pleased I bought this when my little one was 2 weeks old, used it right up until I stopped breastfeeding.

I loved that it ran on batteries and mains power. It made pumping at work very, very easy.

If you're serious about expressing, get one of these.

I bought this pump second hand from eBay, but it was still quite pricy at £60. I already had the good old Avent Isis, but was going through a crisis during those first few, hard, weeks with a newborn and had decided to give only bottles of expressed milk at that stage (now, 7 months on, my son is exclusively breastfed and won't touch a bottle...but that's another story!). I was excited about getting the pump as I'd heard great things about it ("I got 7oz from each breast!", etc.), but must confess I was a little disappointed. It was easy to use, just 2 dials to adjust suck strength (there's a more technical term for that, I'm sure!) and speed. No problems there. However, I did find that on the more gentle (and bearable) lower settings, it didn't do a very effective job. Turn up the power and it was more efficient, but rather uncomfortable. I would definitely recommend using the rubbery inserts in the funnels. It was also quite noisy - I only ever used it at home, but I wouldn't fancy using it anywhere remotely 'public'.
