Syrupy emotional blackmail, it's exactly how a British comedian would write if he was doing a parody of the American sentimentalist stereotype. There are so many ways to write an uplifting, optimistic tale without resorting to sacharine. You can have your heartstrings pulled far more pleasantly in a lot of scifi or fantasy, and there's usually a lot more imagination, humour and a cracking adventure too - why settle for such a lazy writer?

I loved this book! Yes, it was a little cliched, but I found it heart warming and poignant

I thought it was great! But I thought his other book "Tuesdays with Morrie" was just dreadful.

I enjoyed this book. Not as good as 'Tuesdays With Morrie' by the same author, but still worth a read.

Some interesting ideas, and well rounded characters.

Certainly doesn't deserve a place in the Worst book section.
