The backdrop of the recent history of Afghanistan is fascinating. But it feels like the author should have written his own life story, or a history book.

The story of the two women is very hokey and melodramatic, with the male characters particularly two- dimensional. I finally lost patience when, in Bobby Ewing style, a character came back from the dead.
