CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

This book is amazing, well written and thought provoking. I had trouble putting it down and even missed my stop on the train one morning thanks to this book.

This is an absolutely fascinating book and I hardly was able to put it down. It became a definite favorite of mine. Even though you are not surprised how it ends as it delivers what it says in the title. It is about five sisters' suicides. It might be morbid but incredibly beautiful and atmospheric as it is written from the view of some neighborhood boys who were infatuated with them.
