You can smell and feel the tropical heat emanating from Marquez's words. A truly amazing book - didn't want it to end. My all time favourite book ever!

I hated this book. I read it after Love in the Time of Cholera which I thought was great. I don't like magic realism so probably should have realised this wasn't for me. I was stupidly swayed by the reviews on the dustcover saying this book had changed people's lives. I kept on expecting to get it as I turned the last page but still didn't. Really resented wasting all that time reading it.
