We purchased the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier Extra Support and would highly recommend it. Many of the other Mums at the NCT classes have the original and complain of back/shoulder ache. I personally suffer from back ache and have a chunky monkey (top of the growth curves) and can carry him for several hours due to the extra back support (down the spine to the waist). We also invested in the cover and would also recommend this as it has kept him warm and dry throughout the winter. The instructions are easy to follow and it is easy to get him in and out when asleep - vital! We both love using it and therefore we have definitely had our moneys worth.

I Loved it! Very easy to put on, easy to wash but quite expensive so I bought mine on ebay.

I bought my Baby Bjorn Active after my best friend had one with her (very colicky) son. I would not buy one which did not have the back support - I used a BB Classic a couple of times and there was a massive comfort difference. I used the sling for the best part of 12 months and then on and off for another 6. I hardly used the pram we bought so agree that while expensive it was way less than a pram. Made moving around really easy to (compared to a pram). All in all I would not hesitate to use again or to recommend to others. A bit tricky to use initally but soon got the hang and then very easy.

Good points - absolute lifesaver and has been out and about used by dh/me since dd was born (in fact she loves it better than any pushchair). Therefore altho pricey its got its use out of it. Very easy to put on and you can take babies out of it when asleep. Invaluable for those clingy /colicky stages. good as can turn it round to look or into cuddle (dd preferred way)

bad - it does get quite uncomfortable on shoulders as babies get heavier. and potentially shorter life than other similiarly priced slings (eg ergobaby) due to 9 kilo maximum limit.

Didn't research carriers before buying this because everyone seemed to have it and so I assumed it must be great. Not so for us. Our baby didn't like it very much and I didn't think it was that comfortable to wear. So we've only used it when going on planes and now at only seven months she's too heavy for it, at least I think so. In hindsight I'd rather have bought a carrier that lasts until they're three or five, this is pricey and short-lived.
