Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

These slings are brilliant.

Little babies lie in the pouch in a cradle position, bigger ones sit up, either against your front or on your hip.

I used mine round house when my baby was tiny and it was great for getting things done while she wanted a cuddle. She's 9 months now and still loves it - we don't tend to use a buggy very much as this is so easy. If we do go out with the buggy then I usually use the sling as a blanket so we've always got it handy.

My sister used hers until her little boy was nearly 2 so they are brilliant value.

This is a non-adjustable sling you just put over your shoulder like a sash and pop the baby in. I found it difficult the first time but it gets easier with practice and DD seemed comfy in it from newborn.
