Having used a Bjorn I borrowed one of these from a friend and was converted. A gazillion times more comfortable and feels like a continual cuddle. DD doesn't seem to mind going backwards...

I used this sling when my baby was over 5 months old (I was using the kari-me sling when she was smaller). It is better for bigger babies (I would say 4 months+), but then it lasts for a long time! My little girl weighs about 12kgs now, and i carry her into central london on the train every morning with absolutely no problems. It is so comfortable, and really easy to put on and take off quickly. You dont have to worry with a pram, and it is suitable for heavier babies, when the baby bjorn and other slings just dont give you the support you need.

This is a very versatile carier and my son is so happy and comfortable in it. Unlike carriers like the baby bjorn, the Ergo keeps your baby's spine properly aligned. I can carry him on my back for a good few hours without really feeling the strain (he's 15 mths old). It has lots of options - facing in on your front, on your back, on your hip etc which are all detailed in a (v.cheesy) dvd that comes with it. I found it wasn't so comfortable with baby on my front - the waist strap dug in -(but he was 6 months when I tried and it would probably be ok with a smaller baby). It has the advantage over a framed carrier in that you can squash it in your bag or in the bottom of the pushchair to give you more options when you're out and about. In my view,(having carried my son for long distances in a framed pack) the Ergo is actually more comfortable for both the wearer and the baby. The only downside is that there is only very minimal storage for other stuff (enough for a snack and a few tissues). There's also a bit of a knack to getting baby in on your own- practise over a bed is recommended. I always prefer it if there's someone on hand to help. It has a 'hood' which at first I thought was just weird (as did my son)but is actually quite useful. It is used to draw baby's head towards your back to support it when sleeping or to keep the sun off. I ummed and ahhed for yonks over what sling/carrier/backpack to buy and don't regret my decision at all. - Ergos are ACE.

I really wanted to love this - I think it's a fab idea. But it didn't suit me - and dd hated it - she couldn't settle and really tried to chuck herself out of it! A few people have told me since that ergos don't always work brilliantly for smaller-framed people, such as my good self!

Allows both back and front carrying (facing inwards). I purchased this because ds doesn't like travellingfacing outwards and is too long for the usual carrier (kicks me in the thighs). I didn't realise how comfortable this would be. Quite difficult to get the baby on my back solo, but once there, I can get on with jobs around the house no problem. His legs go around my waist and the weight feels much more evenly distributed. Pricy but worth it - should have had this one from the beginning.
