Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

We really liked this chair until our nearly 5 month old ds bounced straight out of it, using his legs on the fabric and hit his head on the wooden floor causing a nasty gash. He was fastened in but the 'teddy bear rail' had been removed to enable him to play with other toys. We spent Friday night in A&E and won't be using this chair again.

This is a fantastic chair. We had purchsed a bouncer from Mamas & Papas but our baby hated it - I think it was because she was too cradled. So we invested in the Baby Bjorn (it is quite expensive but it does last until they are about 3) and she loves it (she is now 3 1/2 months). It has transformed our mealtimes because she is now more than happy to sit in it whilst we eat dinner and prepare. Cannot sing it's praises high enough!

I absolutely love the Baby Bjorn bouncer, as does my 5 mo DD. In fact, the older she gets, the more she appears to love it as she can bounce it herself (by kicking her little legs like mad). This is the only bouncer we bought following the advice from a good friend who tried a couple of others before getting this one.

The only slight negative I have is that changing the seating position/lying flat for transporting can be a little tricky.

My son outgrew his borrowed bouncy seat early on,so I had to get a new one that would take his weight and this is the one I found.

This seat is lovely, with several positions, from lying flat to upright. It bounces naturally with baby's movements so they settle really well in it, and it is strong enough to sit a toddler, so lasts much longer than normal baby seats. Only downside is that it folds flat but is still quite long, but the length is what gives it the high weight limit, so if you have a big baby, this could be the seat for you!
