Tip of the day

Don't get in a panic over Christmas. Keep a box and put a little in it every week - small gifts, wine, nibbles, napkins etc. This way, you'll be more relaxed and less skint in December! keriku

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

I've been using the premier advance for 6 months now and it's been a good purchase, parent unit is handy to walk round with when cooking/in the garden/at the pool on holiday & holds charge well. Room temp is useful to save checking the thermometer in the nursery. When reception isn't great it's easy to flick channels to one which works better. Green & red lights show how loud baby is getting if you have the volume on a lower setting. I've had minimal interference & feedback, all round good monitor and easy to use.

It worked for one week and then the signal dropped off for no reason. Apparently if you live in an area with lots of radio signals it is common for it to get confused. We had to pay extra money and postage to upgrade it to the Platinium (top of the range) version. Very frustrated as we didn't want to leave the baby upstairs wihtout a monitor. Their customer service also messed up the shipping so we didn't get it back for at least a month. Wrost still, it's difficult to get through their customer service number!

Easy to use and has a good night light.

I do find that the battery on the parent unit discharges very quicky though.

Often loses the signal even in a small house, occasionally gives a loud blast of static at the same time. Temp reading and night light useful but we could have had a much better monitor for less money.

Had problems to start. Rechargeable battery was a dud, got it replaced and found out charger unit was the dud. Tomy customer care were very helpful and apologetic which i think is good to know. Temp control can be a degree or two out but apart from the previous problems it is working well and the sound quality is good. Charge holds well on parent unit, baby unit takes batteries which means it can go in the cot with baby.
