Ingredients

1x large onion
8x thick sausages
1x tin chopped tomatoes
1x tin baked beans
1x tin stewing steak
150g potatoes, chopped into small cubes
1 tsp mixed herbs
1 clove garlic (optional)
1/4 pint water
Oxo cube
1 tbsp olive oil

Handy Hint

Method

Pre-heat the oven to 200*c.

Finely chop the onion, and cut the sausages into small pieces (4 per sausage).

Warm the olive oil in a large oven dish, then add the onion and sausages, and cook for approximately 15 minutes, until they're beginning to brown.

Whilst they are cooking, par-boil the potatoes (until only 'just' cooked).

Remove the sausages and onions from the oven, and reduce the oven temperature to 180*c.

Now, add the potatoes, tomatoes, baked beans and stewing steak to the sausages and onions, (at this point it looks like something the cat brought up - but trust me, it improves with cooking!).

Mix the ingredients together, then sprinkle the mixed herbs and oxo cube over the top and add the garlic, crushed.

Finally, pour in the water, stir again, and cover with foil. Cook in the centre of the oven for approximately 30 minutes, until piping hot throughout and with a thick consistency.

Serve in casserole dishes with freshly baked bread...and enjoy!

This is a delicious winter dish that always has them asking for second-helpings; quick and easy to prepare, a good way of using up store-cupboard ingredients, and packed with goodness.
