Ingredients

Glug of olive oil
1kg extra lean mince
3 onions (diced)
2 large carrots (diced)
2 portobello mushrooms (sliced)
400g tin tomatoes
400g tin kidney beans
1 tbsp tomato puree (or half bottle pasata)
4 cloves garlic (peeled and chopped)
Chopped handful of herbs (basil, mint, parsley all work.)
1 tbsp drinking chocolate
1 tsp mild chilli powder
Generous squirt of tomato ketchup
Splash of red wine (or water if you prefer)
Splash of worcester sauce
Seasoning

Handy Hint

This is even tastier if left overnight.

Method

1. Brown the mince in a heavy pan. Add all the other ingredients except the carrots and herbs.
2. Simmer for 1-2 hours (adding a little water if necessary)
3. Add carrots and herbs.
4. Simmer for further 30 mins.
5. Serve your chilli con carne with rice or baked potato
