Ingredients

1 tin green lentils, precooked so ready to use without soaking
Extra vegetables if desired eg sweetcorn, mushrooms, carrot rings or a tin of chopped tomatoes to stretch the quantity
1 jar/pouch tomato based sauce for pasta or use your own favourite tomato sauce
Your favourite pasta eg quick-cook dried pasta for speed & convenience or fresh pasta if you happen to have some in the fridge
Grated cheese to garnish

Handy Hint

Extremely fast to prepare, this is a real 'store cupboard standby' dish. Nutritious, suits from toddler to adult and is easy to adjust to your family's preferences. Also a handy standby for sudden veggie arrivals ("...can Jamie stay for tea?...") Very versatile. Serve with green salad to make it more grown up, with garlic bread, or just with a glass of orange juice.

Method

1. Rinse green lentils under running cold water and drain.
2. Mix drained lentils with the prepared sauce and heat gently in a pan.
3. Boil the pasta until cooked.
4. Either serve lentils on a pile of pasta ie for grownups or mix together before serving which is best for kids!
5. Top with grated cheese.
