Ingredients

olive oil
one chopped onion
one finely chopped pepper
garlic
250g gnocchi
oregano
salt and pepper
grated cheese
400g chopped tomatoes
100g(more or less) chedder

Handy Hint

For young children, don't put in the oven, just put in their dish and sprinkle with cheese, it can be cooling while your is in the oven, you all enjoy at the same time.

Method

pre heat oven to 180 gas mark 4

put enough olive oil (or rapeseed) to come up to at least 1cm in a deep saucepan, add your finely chopped onion, garlic and pepper (you can use as much garlic as you like, I use a good tablespoon of powdered garlic, or two gloves chopped)and simmer on a low heat until your peppers are soft (at least 15 mins)

add the gnocchi, oregano salt and pepper and give a good stir so all the gnocchi is covered in oily garlicly oregano sauce

fry for a couple of mins, you want the gnocchi to be covered in garlic and oregano, add the chopped toms add a little salt and pepper to taste and leave, stir now and then to stop sticking, for about 10 mins, the gnocchi is done when you can put the point of a knife though easily

tip into an oven proof tray and sprinkle with the chedder, leave for about 5 mins in the oven, enjoy!

The pepper is optional, you can use whatever cheese you like, as much garlic as you like, and add whatever other spices you like, paprika, curry powder, nutmeg etc
