Ingredients

450g stewing steak (cut into cubes)
25g seasoned flour
30ml vegetable oil
1/2 green pepper (chopped)
1 carrot (peeled and chopped)
1 stick of celery (chopped)
5ml paprika
30ml tomato purée
Pinch of ground nutmeg
10ml mixed herbs
Salt and pepper
150ml beef stock
200g can chopped tomatoes
150ml red wine (optional)
10ml Worcestershire sauce

Method

1. Toss the meat in the seasoned flour. Place oil in slow cook pot and fry the onions, pepper, celery and carrot until soft.
2. Add the meat and fry until browned. Add the paprika, tomato puree, nutmeg, mixed herbs and seasoning and cook for another 2 minutes.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to the boil, place the lid on the pot and transfer to the base unit of the slow cooker.
4. Cook for 5-7 hours.

We use this as one of our staples and our 2 year old loves it. We serve it with cous cous for a quick evening meal.
