Ingredients

1lb wholemeal flour
2-3oz wheat bran
3 oz wheat germ
half a cup pinhead oats
2 oz soft brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoon bread soda
1 egg
2 fluid ounces of cooking oil
20 fluid ounces of buttermilk ( or milk soured with a little lemon juice.)

Handy Hint

make sure the mixture is extremely wet! Great recipe for making with kids as you can't go wrong!

Method

Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl.

Add the egg oil and buttermilk. Mix well to make a very sticky dough.

Spoon into two greased loaf tins and smooth into corners and across top.

Oven temperature;- 190°C 375°F Gas 5 for 45 minutes approx.

Makes two loaf tins

A really filling bread that tastes great with anything. Filling for kids in a lunchbox with cream cheese or as a starter for adults at a suave(!) dinner party! This is my failsafe!
