Ingredients

Pack of chicken pieces (thighs, or drumsticks, or 4 chicken breasts)
100ml soy sauce
100ml honey (3 tbsp)
4 dried egg noodle portions
1/2 tsp Chinese five spice

Method

1. Mix the soy sauce, honey, and Chinese five spice powder together. Put the chicken in an oven dish and cover in the soy and honey mixture, ensuring fully coated.
2. If you have time, cover with clingfilm and allow to marinate for at least 30 mins in the fridge.
3. Cook in the middle of the oven at gas mark 5 for 30 minutes. Turn the chicken and baste in the juices halfway through.
4. 10 minutes before the end of cooking time, set a large pan of water on to boil for the noodles. Drop the noodles into the boiling water and cook as per the packet instructions (usually 4 minutes).
5. Drain the noodles and return to the pan. Take the chicken out of the oven when cooked. Tip some of the cooking juices to make a sauce and stir. Serve the noodles with the chicken on top.
(Alternatively, after taking the chicken out of the oven, shred the meat before mixing with the noodles.)

It works if you put this in the slow cooker on high for 3 - 4 hours but I use a little less soy and honey.

I added HALF a tsp, was perfect! Brilliant, quick, easy & cheap(ish) dinner! Even my fussy DD ate it & enjoyed it & even ate some of the chicken! Chucked in some steamed mangetout & baby corn to help with my '5-a-day'!!

This might be (or is!) a completely stupid question, but does the recipe say half a teaspoon of five spice, or 1-2 teaspoons? TIA!

very easy to make. Really tasty we had it with rice instead of noodles.
