Surely this is highly unlikely, bet there's none on here who had one during birth.

I just cannot get my head around that concept.

ludicrous IMO

Sorry can't think of anything else to say but what a load of bo*cks hmm. I'm sorry but it is - I've heard it all now! Even though I enjoyed the birth of dd2 - orgasm was not a word I would associate with it. grin

I'd hate to have one in front of my mother hmm. Sounds highly improbable to me.

"'When the baby's coming down the birth canal, remember, it's going through the exact same positions as something going in - the penis going into the vagina, which often leads to orgasm,' says Dr Christiane Northrup, who seems to display a rather limited appreciation of the female anatomy. "

Erm no....it's not the penis going in that leads to the big O...for me anyways...

no, no, and no.
Lucky to get one at the conception

i remember a friend of mine saying it felt almost orgasmic when she had her first child

edam Wed 18-Mar-09 22:55:26

ha ha ha ha ha bloody ha.

I've heard this theory before. Suspect it's been dreamt up by someone who isn't getting enough, frankly.

lol...I didn't ...but I have heard about it....and have had a few women tell me that they did experience it....but well..I'd have to take their word for it...

hahahahaahah.

Was it in the Times? No? The Graun, the telegraph, even the Sun? No? The DM, you say? Ah, I see!

They really, really do hate and fear women, don't they? Why do you think that is? Seriously?

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid Wed 18-Mar-09 23:01:00

<taps fingers>

still waiting for someone to actually say it happened to them and not a friend grin

Quattrocento Wed 18-Mar-09 23:01:37

Yes didn't we all? Multiple orgasm with candles and flowers and soft music

<conveniently forgets the bloody and painful and undignified reality>

GodzillasBumcheek Wed 18-Mar-09 23:01:47

Ho...i wish.

And just think of all those orgasmic sheep in Springtime.

Makes me want to give birth again just to try it hmm

not just the dm

grauniad too

CompareTheMeerkat Wed 18-Mar-09 23:03:01

No. Although did feel a sense of power I think when DD was born.

emkana Wed 18-Mar-09 23:03:38

onebatmother, there was an article about this in the Guardian today, so the DM thing doesn't quite hold in this case

hester Wed 18-Mar-09 23:06:40

Can't say I've had the pleasure, but I can believe it does happen. It's such an intense experience, and our bodies are capable of the strangest things. Actually, it made me think of an article I once read about a woman who reached orgasm while being raped, and how ashamed she felt, and betrayed by her own body. I felt so sorry for her, and it made me think a lot about other (less bizarre) ways in which our bodies give contrary reactions: like laughing at bad news, or crying with joy, or fainting when things get too emotionally intense.

sweetkitty Wed 18-Mar-09 23:08:00

I felt almost orgasmic once the baby was born and the horrific pain stopped, maybe a few hours afterwards when I was OK and the baby was OK kind of like "I thought I was dying but I didn't" kind of feeling.

That's not really the same thing is it hmm

onebatmother Wed 18-Mar-09 23:18:24

@ emkana. Oh buggeration. Sorry. My loathing of the DM has recently received a revivifying injection and I failed (how unlike me!) to check before I posted..

i am pretty sure the dm was a snooty article, in your defence,
it did say somethign about women want to have orgasms with sex all the time, tut, tut, or something like that.

yes it happens

onebatmother Wed 18-Mar-09 23:26:14

thanks slarty

I genuinely felt euphoric after my second daughters birth - proper wide-awake-blissed-out.

But during? Nooooo. Sorry, Dr Northrup, not only does a penis going up there not bring me to orgasm, a big round baby heed is nowt like a penis anyway. And if you think it is, you need to get your bloke to the hospital sharpish.

<delicious anticipatory pause>
